Well the short answer is that the heat in Hydronic Towel Warmers comes from hot water from your boiler or water heater. You must have a hydronic pump with a thermostat to control the water to the Hydronic Towel Warmer. When hot water is present - the towel warmer will produce heat. For some spaces there is enough Btu ouput to heat your bathroom and dry and warm your towels. But, this depends on the heat loss of your bathroom.
Electric Towel Warmers the heat comes from an electric heating element inside the towel warmer. Both types come in diffrent sizes and Btu outputs, but generally Electric Towel Warmers only have enough heat to dry and warm towels and not heat the space all that much.
