Hydronic Radiant Heat Pex Tubing
Radiant Heat with PEX or Electric Rolls is the most efficient heating system available. Radiant underfloor heat costs less to heat your home than any other type of heating system by being able to lower the thermostat temperture while still staying toasty warm. Generally, you can save 15 to 20% as compared to forced-air or hydronic baseboard heating systems.
Radiant PEX Tubing comes in several different sizes. The most common sizes of PEX Pipe for Radiant Heat Systems is 1/2 Inches. Other sizes of PEX Tubing 3/8 Inch, 5/8 Inch and 3/4 Inch are used. The larger sizes like 3/4 Inch is generally used for bigger areas or commercial spaces. Generally, for residential Radiant Heat Systems we recommend 1/2 Inch PEX Tubing for underfloor and in floor slab systems. The PEX Tube size dictates the flow rate that can be achieved and thus the maximum loop length of the pex tube. 3/8 and1/2 Inch PEX Tubing accounts for the majority of Residential Radiant Heat installations and can be used for radiant installs using Thermal Board, Versatherm and Creatherm for thermal installations with PEX Tubing.
