Indoor air quality problems have soared since the late 1970's when construction technology succeeded in developing energy efficient "tight" houses. Pollutants inside houses, which once escaped through cracks around windows and doors, are now trapped inside creating an indoor environment that is often 2 to 5 times more polluted than outside. Pet dander, mold spores, dust mites, allergens, tobacco smoke and other pollutants add up to poor indoor air quality.
By using a Fantech Energy Recovery Ventilator, incoming fresh outdoor air is filtered then cooled and dehumidified by the stale outgoing air, as it passes through an enthalpy energy recovery core. The enthalpic core at the center of the unit transfers heat and moisture from the incoming air to the outgoing air. The air brought into the living area is cooled and the humidity is reduced for maximum comfort. The load on your air conditioner is less and you save on cooling costs as the ERV distributes the conditioned air throughout the home by direct ductwork installed specifically for the ERV Energy Recovery Ventilators or through the ductwork of an existing forced-air system.
Sizing for your Residential needs
Fantech ERVs are typically sized to ventilate the whole house at a minimum of .35 air changes per hour. To calculate, simply take the square footage of the house (including basement) and multiply by the height of the ceiling to get cubic volume. Then, divide by 60 and multiply by .35.
Note: When installing ERVs (in ERV areas according to the map), and the outdoor temperature falls below 23°F (-5°C) for more than 2 consecutive days, it is recommended that a defrost option be installed on the equipment.
Enthalpy Core
Semi-permeable treated paper core transfers heat and humidity from fresh air supply to outgoing stale exhaust, lowering load on air conditioning system.
Factory Balanced External Rotor Motors
The unique design of Fantech's External Rotor Motors significantly extends life expectancy of the motors. Typical motor life is in excess of 100,000 hours. Permanently lubricated bearings guarantee maintenance-free operation. Internal thermal protection is built in. Suitable for continuous or intermittent duty. 7 year limited warranties.
Electronic Control Boards
Superior microprocessor technology efficiently controls operations of unit while making it easy to connect to existing HVAC equipment and convenient wall controls. Built in surge protection for long life.
