Grundfos has broken the mold to design a radically new
submersible pump that will bring about a whole new era in pumping equipment.
These pumps incorporate many protection and applications features giving installers confidence
and the flexibility to adapt the pump to many different applications.
There are two models of the SQ Series of pumps: the standard SQ and the advanced
SQE. Both models offer five flow sizes from 5 to 30 gpm and a horsepower range of
1/3 to 1.5 Hp.
SQ pumps operate at a constant speed much like today's conventional pumps.
The difference between it and today's pump is that you get all the added benefits of
an electronically controlled permanent-magnet motor, which cannot be accomplished with a
conventional induction motor. The SQ pumps are available for single-phase power and use a
simple 2-wire design, making installation easy.
SQE pumps include the high efficiency permanent-magnet motor, but also
offers you the ability to communicate with the motor. The "Smart" Motor communicates
through the power leads into the CU300 status box (it is not necessary to run any additional
wires down the well). By being able to communicate with the pump, you have Constant
Pressure Control and the ability to change the pump performance. As with the SQ motor, this is
also a 2-wire motor designed for single-phase operation.

Reliable Check Valves
Reliable built-in spring loaded check valves let
you operate the pump in any position from
vertical to horizontal.

Rugged Design
The SQ/SQE pump design uses "floating"
impellers. Each impeller has its own tungsten
carbide/ceramic bearing. This design and the
high quality of materials make the pump very
wear resistant, especially in sandy conditions.

Permanent-Magnet Motor
The SQ/SQE motors are
based on a permanent-magnet rotor which produces
high efficiency output within a wide load range.
The high and flat efficiency curve of the
permanent-magnet motor covers a wide
power range with the same motor, as compared to
conventional AC motors. For SQE pumps, this
means three motors to cover the horsepower range
from 1/3 to 1.5 Hp.
