Why would I need a Towel Warmer?

to add some comfort to each day. Many people report to Myson that they haven't used
their new jetted tub in 6 months, but they use and enjoy their towel warmer every day.
Stone and tile are very popular in baths these days, and air conditioning is more and more
prevalent. These practices tend to leave the bath cooler where the Towel Warmer tempering
the air temperature and a nice warm towel are appreciated.
Also, many parts of the country have trouble with humidity in the summer months. A towel
warmer helps to keep towels fresh and dry.

What is the difference between Hydronic and Electric?
Hydronic (hot water) models use the hot water from either your domestic hot water heater
or your Hydronic heating system to warm the Towels. The hydronic system requires the
use of a circulating pump. The Electric models are self-contained, oil filled units
that have a low wattage-electric heating element that will heat the oil. All Myson
Electric Towel Warmers, even the custom rails, are UL-approved.

What is the difference between the Classic and Premier Towel Warmers?
Premier Towel Warmers are made of brass and are hand brazed and polished and have ball
fittings at the major connecting points. Classic Towel Warmers are made in a similar
fashion, but use a less noticeable connection between rails.

What accessories do I need when I purchase a Towel Warmer?
All the accessories to install your Myson Towel Warmer, the Wire Encasement Kit, or
the Valves and Sleeve Kit, as well as the matching screws, come complete with your
Towel Warmer. Myson does have a couple of other optional items such as an added towel
hanging rack, but everything necessary to install the rail comes in the box.

Is there a special way that I should hang my Towels?
While there is no specific way to hang a towel on a Towel Warmer, you should try to
arrange the towel so that you get the maximum surface area of the towel touching the
rails of your Towel Warmer.

Can I use a Towel Warmer as the only source of heat for my bathroom?
Many Towel Warmers are large enough to heat a bath. Care should be taken to pick the
right size. You should consult your heating specialist for the correct Towel Warmer size
needed to heat your room so as not to over heat the bathroom.

How much does it cost to run a Myson Towel Warmer?
Depending on your cost of electricity, it will cost you 25 to 60 cents a day if
the towel warmer runs continually.

How warm is a Towel Warmer?
The Electric Towel Warmer will run around 145°F depending somewhat upon
the room temperature. Hydronic models will depend on the individual heating
system, but Myson suggests the use of water between 120°F and 150°F.

Should I have to worry about a Towel Warmer burning someone?
Towel Warmers are like an iron, they won't work very well if they are not hot. It is
important to keep in mind that elderly people and small children do not always sense
temperature that well. Myson suggests that hydronic Towel Warmers run at about 120°-150°F.
With the hot water Towel Warmers, it is possible to turn down the temperature of the water
source in some cases and just wait longer for the towels to warm. Our electric Towel
Warmers’ temperature is dictated by the UL approval agency.
With the electric Towel Warmers, it is possible to have your installer put a standard
electric dimmer switch in the circuit and lower the running temperature.

How long does it take to heat my Towels?
It depends on the towel warmer that you have. Hot water Towel Warmers use water
that is already heated by some other source, so they begin to work in less than 5 minutes.
When turned on, Electric Towel Warmers have their mineral oil contents at room temperature.
Generally, an Electric Towel Warmer will heat your Towels between 30-45 minutes; and
it can take up to an hour for the very large Towel Warmers. You may find an optional
time clock useful to ensure that your towels are warm when you need them.

Can I leave my Towel Warmer on all the time?
Yes you can. It will not harm your Towels or your Myson Towel Warmer. Not
long ago, a customer told us that he turned on his Towel Warmer 19 years ago
and has never turned it off.

Can I move the Electric box?
Standard placement is on the bottom right. A change in the electrical switch box
position must be ordered specially. The electric box can be moved to the lower left
side, but must remain on the bottom rail. The up-charge is 10%. Turning the rail
to a position that puts the connection box on the top will cause the Towel Warmer
to overheat.

How do you control an Electric Towel Warmer?
The Electric Towel Warmer can be either left on continually or used as needed.
You can turn the unit on and off at the switch on the Towel Warmer electric switch
box. You can also connect an optional timer to the Electrical Towel Warmer for
automatic switching.

How do you control a Hydronic Towel Warmer?
You can control the Hydronic Towel Warmer by turning it on and off by the valve
on the Towel Warmer. Please note that you cannot control the flow of the water
with this valve. The valve has to be totally on or totally off. You may also want
to put a time clock on the pump for your Towel Warmer.

What do I need to do to prepare for mounting my Towel Warmer?
While it is not mandatory, safe building practices call for some kind of blocking
material to be placed in the wall behind the mounting points of your Towel Warmer.

Is there anything else I need to do for the installation?
Electric Towel Warmers will need an 110V line to connect the electrical box.
Across the US now, codes dictate that bathroom circuits must be protected by a
GFI circuit. Electrical codes place some limits on where a towel warmer can be installed
in relation to the tub or shower. It is best to check with your contractor on this.
There are no electrical restrictions on the placement of a hydronic towel warmer, so
they are ideal for placement on the deck of a jetted tub or at the end of a walk-in
shower. Hydronic Towel Warmers will need to have a hot water supply and return line
made from copper tubing to connect to our valves. As mentioned, a pump is required in
the circulating loop to make the water move through the towel warmer. Complete
